Matthew Walker, MD, is the leading clinical voice for spine surgery at Magellan Healthcare. He provides key insights that help the company navigate this evolving specialty. Since joining Magellan in 2014, Dr. Walker has played an integral role in the development and growth of the spine surgery program. Dr. Walker has 20 years of clinical experience as a board-certified orthopedic spine surgeon. In addition to his work at Magellan, he continues in active clinical practice, performing elective spinal surgery and covering spine trauma calls at a Level I Trauma Center. Dr. Walker received his undergraduate and medical degrees from West Virginia University. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Summa Health System in Akron, Ohio, followed by a fellowship in spine surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
