Dr. Candice Tate is a medical director at Magellan Healthcare. Dr. Tate believes in quality mental health services, such as psychotropic medication in combination with psychotherapy. Her treatment philosophy includes a strong physician-patient therapeutic alliance and safe, and responsible medication management. She has years of experience in psychotropic medication management for a variety of psychiatric conditions in inpatient and outpatient settings. During her graduate medical training, Dr. Tate was extensively trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy and was supervised by experienced psychoanalysts. She is also familiar with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), interpersonal therapy (IPT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). Over her career, she has worked in a variety of healthcare settings and has treated patients in the public and private sectors, including community health clinics, government health centers, and private practice. This has helped her become an effective practitioner on behalf of her patients. In the past few years, Dr. Tate has worked in the managed care industry, which continues to allow her to improve the lives of people and to have an impact on healthcare organizations. Dr. Tate graduated from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center School of Medicine in Memphis and completed her graduate medical education in General Psychiatry at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, IL. Dr. Tate is a board-certified psychiatrist by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She also obtained a Master’s in Business Administration focusing on Health Care Administration and Management from The George Washington University School of Business.
