Feeling seen, heard and supported can reduce suicide risk and extend hope at every stage of life. If you’re concerned someone might be thinking about suicide, connection can make a difference.

  • Talk in a private, safe place.
  • Listen with care and without judgement.
  • Ask directly about suicidal thoughts.
  • Avoid minimizing, debating or giving advice.
  • Encourage professional help.
  • Take concerns seriously; remove lethal means and stay with them.
  • Call or text 988 or chat at 988Lifeline.org.
